I certainly don't I've got some megas that I think are cool But none that I'm emotionally attached to or anything I say that now I've got to think of one is like wait. That's my favorite. It could be a recency bias But the darkri mega is incredible. You like it? I do. I think it's really cool. I haven't seen it actually Oh, I might have seen it briefly. It's like an eyeball right yeah When he when he attacks he like goes into like this eye form and it's got like Tendrils and shit. Those kind of cool until his head comes out I think yeah, that's valid But like that's his attack phase type thing. So we crack in straight away to number 10 My original favorite mon from when I played singles during covert I still hold a special place for it, but I've grown away from it we vile You've grown away from it. Then how's it in your top 10? Yeah, maybe it was a great point Earlier and it's just kind of you go and slowly down the list in next generation to might be an honorable mention Yeah, it might be I think we viles Fine, I think it's it was one of those gen 4 Pokemon that really got hyped up as like for some reason There's just a bunch of very specifically gen 4 Pokemon. Yeah, that like There's some kind of niche for like specifically gen 4 players who just like yeah. I mean diamond and pearl is peak. Yeah But you know like the car your garchomp lux ray stirrupter and I think we vile kind of falls in that I always forget that they are all in the same gen. Yeah, yeah, right like it's It's the kind of Pokemon that that person really likes and for that reason. I think we viles are tied overrated Yeah, but I don't think it's cool Fastest mods for a very long time. Yeah, I think it's That would have been unbroken into like gen 7 almost Yeah, pretty much yeah is one of the fastest things until I guess like Dragon Paul Some megas like Lopany. Yeah Yeah, in terms of base mod non gimmick mods it would have probably was not much outpacing that for a very long without a choice scarf Yeah, so it was it was for that reason there was one of the best revenge killers in singles He lost it. Can you imagine if it had triple axe all back then oh god damn you miss a lot Well, yeah, I like we vile, but you do raise a very good point that it sort of is one of those Mons that people just like just because Yeah, um, we've also has one of my favorite memories from vgc when I'm playing a focus search pick bucket we vile Yeah, so you take a hit from a mon takes you down to sash your sash pops you suddenly don't have an item Pickpocket then procs and you take the item with the Pokemon that attacked you. Yeah, very funny Unfortunately one time I got hit with a muck punch from a conkelder Yeah, focus sash pops. It's you know four times effective. Of course, it's popping focus sash. I take flame off Diomedially, but at least they didn't get that burn off That's for you fucker. That's very funny. Get fucked nerd conkelder Okay, number nine Go to the mon that I've had many great experiences with a little lacking in the design partment, but still a top 10 for me a mungus What yeah, I mean, I love using a mungus in tournaments. Yeah, top 10 Pokemon Really crazy this list unfortunately is a lot like that reaction you just gave See, I mean, I would like to speak for all the mid vgc players As a representative of the mid vgc players. I'd like to say fuck a mungus entirely As someone who's good enough Pokemon to get CP sometimes, but not good enough to know how to play around sport. I hate this mushroom. Yeah, I I kind of yeah, and I'm not even a good user of a mungus. So like oh, yeah, it's a double negative for me like I'm not I'm not It severely limits like team building Whenever it's legal like it really restricts you know your options When you build a team you think oh, you're gonna need it. Yeah, I'm gonna be able to manage sport Am I going to be able to kill the mungus? For that reason, yeah, I wouldn't put it in a top 10 as much as I love using it myself. I've probably used on Probably at least half of the teams. I've ever brought an event Because it is too good. It is. Yeah. Yeah, I I struggle seeing very good vgc mon sitting on top 10 lists I mean if sometimes if they're fun to use Yeah, I think volcoron is a pretty universally. Yeah, liked Pokemon and it's good It's got many vgc accolades. Yeah, so many accolades That's the first one that comes to mind for me. I guess tita to some extent. Yeah, you know quite good Hydragon's been on a bunch of guests and I don't like Gem 5 vgc number eight Yeah, such a cool mon and a typically reliable one has been letting me down recently though. Tyranitar Of course, it's a shape of Genesis that Dan and Chris aren't on the podcast They fucking love Tyranitar. I think tita's Dan's favorite pokemon. Yeah, and it's in like top three for Chris. Yeah Both love tita. I I nearly bought the tita that I saw at ggn for Dan on the weekend But I just didn't have enough still credit. So yeah I don't know I I'm quite careful saying this on the podcast if you're getting beaten up, but I think Tyranitar's I've errated I think it's cool. I think it's very cool. I like it But I think it you know, I don't see the appeal that it is so many people's favorite Yeah, I agree with that. I don't get it. I guess that's what I'm saying I think it's okay. Like it's a powerhouse pokemon. They're cool. Like they're big strong. Obviously in a non Non-terraform and it kind of just dies to any punch Yeah, it'd be surprised It is really bulky. I It always just shocks me how much it lives especially on the special side like AV and sand and suddenly it's living a lot more than you'd expect like I've hit it with like you know Specs make it rain. I was like this is going to destroy it. It's super effective This is hitting so hard and then it just does like Holy shit. I'm like excuse me. It's crazy. It's crazy I think my favorite t-taset was duckinium z with dragon dance like in 2018 that was nice. Yeah. Oh, it's just Well, this is easy for us also like You normally use it with crunch and it was just like a like a fat dark move. Yeah, the good thing about it is It was non-contact so you could always like safely deal with an agus slash with king shield So you see when it's first and if they're king shield like you still do damage through it And then crunch the next turn because they can't king shield again. Yeah, I like it for that reason Megatutas like I mean, it's the same it's better the same one just to better stats so it is Nothing to write home about, but it's a solid Pokemon. Sorry I like Tita But I can't actually agree with marga. It may be overrated. Yeah Yeah Although shout out to being one of the few powerhouse Pokemon that is into dragon. Yeah, that is a good shout out actually I only like I think we've got three No, two. I think this is Madagross and Tyranta right Madagross and Tyranta are the only ones that isn't you've got after that you've got Salaman scar charm hot dragon Gujarra Kamo dragon pot and All the scalaba dragonite dragonite not I said dragonite. Yeah Number five from Genesis Super consistent at putting opponents in the blender and weathering through offensive teams put it in the blender Let me play the pivot heavy balance games. I like Real a busy. Oh, you're gonna say in general probably coming up later I feel like I can talk a little shit about rillaboom than I could six months ago now that I'm a certified balance player My partner's nephews favorite Pokemon is rillaboom and he's like five. I think rillaboom is a really cool Pokemon like cool design Um, like it's Gigantamax form was like fairly funny. There's a whole like fill column. I'd like eight monkey play drums. Yeah Big monkey play drums is so funny, but then it got grassy surge That's right. It's like I remember a personal time before they gave the Gen 8 starters. They had an ability. Yeah, yeah when I was like overgrown only um, I think I think groovy was my choice For sure, right. Yeah, silly monkey with a stick. Silly monkey with a stick becomes bigger monkey with a stick becomes monkey play drums Um, but yeah, I don't know. VGC takes into top 10 is uh, that's hurting me Something else I'll say about rillaboom is I feel like as strong as it is and as prevalent as it is and Admittedly it does go a fair way in weakening a lot of other potential to rain strategies with how good it is For the most part, I don't think it's particularly toxic or bad for the game at all I think it's one of those Pokemon that sees a lot of play and Uh, it's honest. It's good. Yeah, it's honest. Exactly. Yeah, I don't exactly what it's gonna do Especially after the grassy glad nerf as well. Yeah, yeah, 100% yeah Um, because I it's like um back in reg b or reg c when flood man was at like 79% usage or something Yeah, it was like when you look at how much people are complaining about flotterman It's like not a lot for a mom that's being used that much because it's like it Not a mom that people really dislike playing against whereas you compare rillaboom to something like raging bolt I think rillaboom actually had a higher use percentage than raging bolt did last reg f Yeah, but people aren't complaining about rillaboom. Yeah, they're Haha, I guess people like don't hate on flotterman as much because like you can kill it Yeah, well that's a thing, right? It's it's easily answerable. I think rillaboom it doesn't have any like Bullshit attached to it like um fake out cycling can be a bit annoying But like that that's about the worst that it does yeah um the only other bad thing about rillaboom that it enables is like Leftovers raging bolt to like yeah protect and get grassy terrain recovery on top of everything that's max HP. Yeah It was it was really nice receiving grassy surgery rillaboom after only having top of bull who For grassy said I just wish we had like misty terrain and um Electric terrain and it'd be good if we had good setters for Not just indeed in rillaboom. We briefly had periods where we had like a good Trane setter in the form of muridon um, I had a great time in regg running iron leaves with muridon. Yeah, I live all buying Lays was just fantastic to run um, but just we haven't had any good fairy terrain users and it doesn't help that the Dedicated fairy type terrain move is garbage. Yeah, like it's hot trash. Yeah I actually have we don't have a Misty terrain setter do we wheezing? Glare and wheezing yeah, but it's but you like if you're ever running wheezing it's or uh, it's never taken obviously Yeah, yeah, you should rise and gas um and Yeah, I mean, I've known people who've done things like tacking misty terrain onto their grim snarl or whimsy card or something Because they really hate spore and thunder wave. Yeah, I think Ethan was doing that a lot. Yeah, I think Jared was as well Um, but yeah, I mean it will be nice if they give us a good fairy terrain setter. Yeah Because and I maybe I don't know like a decent fairy terrain move because like expanding forcing grassy glider cracked Yeah, um rising voltage is mid and just even just thunderbolt and electric terrain. Yeah, yeah exactly right You're better off doing that and then misty explosion is completely unplayable. Yeah Yeah, kill your own one and do really not that much. Yeah, like if it was the same time it just regular explosion It would have a niche use case. Yeah, but it doesn't know and it doesn't even get boosted by being on the terrain It just yeah, that's crazy part. Yeah, I think it only works if you're on terrain or something. It's yeah, I think it's really shit I think you have to be on the terrain to use it. I think box legends peaked here to be honest Groudon, huh? Okay Disagree I mean, it's kind of a running trend to hate on legendaries Yeah, it is also in terms of like box art alone. I think groudon's family mid. Yeah, I don't hate it's designed by any means But I certainly don't think it's like the best box design. No, god no I'm thinking of box legendaries right now and have it but like Even Lina la like he put that on there. Yeah, I think that's a lot better shout. Yeah better Diaga palcier in my opinion. Yeah, I reckon objectively Like it's a it's a hype bar like it's it is a lot of good box art But it's like what's your favorite bar of gold tone like they're all good.
